K-12 Response Program Saves Lives

Melanie Bales is the Nursing Supervisor for Cobb County Schools, the second largest school district in Georgia and one of the largest in the U.S. With over 113,000 students, 13,000 employees, and thousands of visitors, Melanie said she knows the importance of maintaining an emergency response team. “I’ve been a nurse for 30 years,” said Melanie. “We started placing AEDs throughout our schools in 2006.” Melanie says that as a school nurse, she’s always known the value of having an AED available during a cardiac event.
