Steve Turnmeyer, a school resource officer that has served with the Valdosta Police Department for 17 years, lost his son to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Steve says that, “ever since then, it’s been my goal – present and future – to implement as many AEDs in my police department as possible.” However, Turnmeyer is not stopping there. He also strives to place AEDs in both city and county courthouses. For every AED that Turnmeyer helps implement, a sticker with a #DaneStrong symbol will be placed on every squad car or wall cabinet to honor the memory of his son, Dane Turnmeyer.
