Who the Philips HeartStart OnSite Is Designed For

The HeartStart OnSite is built for a workplace where the person who grabs it has never used an AED. Pulling the green handle powers it on and starts the voice coaching, and the prompts run through pad placement and CPR without asking the responder to interpret anything on a screen. The rescuer can select adult or infant/child CPR instructions. It is semi-automatic, so the responder presses the orange Shock button. Energy is a SMART truncated exponential biphasic shock at 32 A / 150 J nominal for adults, or 19 A / 50 J with the optional Infant/Child SMART Pads Cartridge (M5072A) fitted. Note the IP21 rating, which is drip-proof rather than weather-resistant, so this is an indoor placement. A daily automatic self-test checks circuitry, waveform delivery, the pads cartridge, and battery capacity, and an audible chirp signals that maintenance is needed. It weighs 3.3 lbs. Warranty is 8 years on the device and 4 years on the battery.

Ordering was easy. Shipped quickly. Got what I ordered. The reason for the loss of two stars: These things have a useful life of two years, which is understandable, given the nature of the product, and the necessity of adhesives (for the skin) to not be dried out. I'm OK with that. The problem is that the two adult pad replacements I ordered on 6/20/24 have an expiration date of 12/19/25. I lost 25% of the useful life of the product...before I even received it.
