cprINSIGHT analyzes the patient's rhythm while CPR is being performed, so compressions carry on uninterrupted — and the device arrives pre-charged, meaning zero charge delay on the first shock.

Energy Delivery

Biphasic truncated exponential waveform with voltage and duration compensation for patient impedance. Energy is configurable from 150 J to 360 J, defaulting to 200 J / 300 J / 360 J for adults and 50 J / 75 J / 90 J in Child Mode. The first 150 J or 200 J shock needs no charge time — the device ships pre-charged.

CPR Feedback

Coaches both adult and pediatric CPR with a metronome, rate and depth guidance, hand-placement instruction, and feedback when it detects no compressions at all.

Pediatric Mode

Press the Child Mode button to drop to reduced energy (50 J / 75 J / 90 J) with pediatric CPR coaching — no need to swap electrodes. Intended for patients aged 1 to 8 or under 55 lbs (25 kg).

Battery & Pad Life

The lithium battery carries a 4-year standby life and delivers 166 shocks at 200 J or 800 minutes of run time. QUIK-STEP electrodes serve both adult and pediatric patients and are replaced every 4 years or after each use.

How the LIFEPAK CR2 Reports Its Own Readiness

The CR2 is the connected AED in this lineup. Over 802.11 b/g/n WiFi or USB it transfers data to the LIFELINKcentral AED program manager or LIFENET System, which means readiness status reaches a program administrator without anyone walking to the cabinet. Daily self-tests cover the device, pads, and battery. For a single unit that is a convenience. Across dozens of sites it changes the inspection model, because an exception report replaces the walk-around. On a rescue, cprINSIGHT analyzes rhythm while compressions continue, so CPR does not stop for analysis, and the device ships pre-charged, so the first 150 J or 200 J shock carries no charge delay. With cprINSIGHT enabled, a 360 J shock follows CPR in under 7 seconds. Child Mode is a button rather than a pad swap, dropping energy to 50 J, 75 J, and 90 J. QUIK-STEP electrodes serve adults and children and are replaced every 4 years or after each use.

The reason for the loss of two stars: These things have a useful life of two years, which is understandable, given the nature of the product, and the necessity of adhesives (for the skin) to not be dried out. I lost 25% of the useful life of the product...before I even received it.
