Energy Delivery

Delivers a SCOPE optimized biphasic escalating waveform that compensates energy, slope and envelope for patient impedance. An adult Pad-Pak escalates 150 J, 150 J, then 200 J; a Pediatric-Pak delivers 50 J on every shock. Charges 150 J in under 8 seconds and 200 J in under 12 seconds.

CPR Feedback

Adds CPR Rate Advisor on top of the metronome: measures actual compression rate and calls out "push faster", "good speed" or "push slower" with matching LED guidance. Rate Advisor feedback is for adult patients only.

Pediatric Mode

Swap the adult Pad-Pak for a Pediatric-Pak (Pad-Pak-02) to treat children aged 1 to 8 or up to 55 lbs (25 kg); the unit then delivers 50 J on every shock. CPR Rate Advisor is disabled with a Pediatric-Pak fitted, leaving the metronome to pace compressions.

Battery & Pad Life

The Pad-Pak combines battery and electrodes in one cartridge on a single expiration date, with a four-year life. A new pack supports more than 60 shocks at 200 J or 6 hours of use; at four years it still holds more than 10 shocks at 200 J.

What Does CPR Rate Advisor Add to the HeartSine 450P?

The 450P is the only HeartSine that measures actual compression rate and tells the rescuer what to do about it. Where the 350P and 360P pace compressions with a metronome the responder has to follow on their own, the 450P listens back and calls out push faster, good speed, or push slower, with matching LED guidance. That matters because a metronome only helps a rescuer who is already tracking it, and rate is the second thing bystanders lose after depth. One limit to know: Rate Advisor covers adult patients only, and it is disabled when a Pediatric-Pak is fitted, leaving the metronome to pace compressions for children aged 1 to 8 or up to 55 lbs. Otherwise the 450P is the same physical unit as the rest of the range, at 2.4 lbs with the Pad-Pak installed, sealed to IP56, running the SCOPE escalating waveform at 150 J, 150 J, then 200 J, with an 1-year Encore Series warranty.

The reason for the loss of two stars: These things have a useful life of two years, which is understandable, given the nature of the product, and the necessity of adhesives (for the skin) to not be dried out. I'm OK with that. The problem is that the two adult pad replacements I ordered on 6/20/24 have an expiration date of 12/19/25. I lost 25% of the useful life of the product...before I even received it.
