The M5070A is a replacement battery for the Philips HeartStart OnSite
and FRx AEDs. This automated external defibrillator (AED) battery is a 9
Volt DC, 4.2 Ah disposable long-life lithium battery. Its capacity is a
minimum of 200 shocks or 4 hours of operating time. The M5070A
replacement AED battery should be installed in a Philips HeartStart
OnSite or FRx AED at least 5 years from the date of manufacture (which
is noted on the battery’s label). It has a standby life of typically 4
years when it is installed by the install-by date.
Each Philips HeartStart OnSite and FRx automated external defibrillator unit should have a spare battery in case the original has expired or doesn’t work for one reason or another. Additional AED batteries should be purchased for your defibrillator if it will be used frequently for training and/or demonstration purposes. An AED unit is only as good as its battery. Don’t be caught with a dead AED battery during a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) emergency. Time is of the essence during an SCA. Every minute counts and if defibrillation does not occur within a 3 – 5 minute time frame, brain damage can occur; if the victim’s heart is not restarted after 5 – 7 minutes, death is almost certain. Having one or two M5070A replacement batteries for your Philips OnSite and FRx AED will help ensure that you are ready to handle a sudden cardiac arrest emergency.
