AED Market Guides

AED Market Guides

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States today. More than 1,000 people per day, young and old alike, suffer SCA each day. That is why AED Brands has included free Market Guides in our Resource Center—designed to help you implement an AED program for your business, school, church or other public gathering place. Choose from options below:

Pediatric Advanced Life Support & Child CPR

School defibrillators and defibrillator programs have different criteria than other potential AED locations because of the different physical needs of children. This is especially true in elementary schools or other businesses that cater to children younger than eight years old and weighing less than 55 pounds. You may be surprised to find out that children can suffer sudden cardiac arrest but statistics show that approximately 7,000 children die from SCA each year. It is vitally important then, that schools, after-school facilities, and other childcare businesses incorporate AED programs, have AEDs onsite and are trained in CPR and pediatric advanced life support.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Statistics

Another surprising statistic you might not be aware of is that sudden cardiac arrest is the number 1 cause of death of people on golf courses. This can be due to several factors. Chief among them is the golfing demographic. Many golfers are males in their fifties and older and older men are more likely than other people to suffer heart problems. Another primary problem with golf courses is their size, as well as the remoteness of some of the holes. Getting to the course may not be difficult for an EMS team but getting to the victim may be difficult if he or she is far from the clubhouse. Therefore, having an AED emergency plan in place, having AEDs readily and easily available, and placing emergency call boxes throughout the golf course, may mean the difference between life and sudden cardiac death. Our Golf Course Defibrillator section will give you the basics on how to begin and implement your golf course AED program.

Advanced Life Support

Other resources in the AED Market Guides section include information on civil service AED programs for police and fire/EMS departments, as well as gyms and dental offices. We have also included a section on ALS (Advanced Life Support) programs for professional responders.
