HB 6541 2009
This act requires that adult, child and infant automated external defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification be a mandatory part of Firefighter I certification training.

SB 1089 2009
Provides Good Samaritan immunity for automatic external defibrillator use unless there is gross, willful or wanton negligence. The act first only applied to health clubs and athletic facilities at public high schools and colleges, but was amended to include anyone who provides or maintains an AED.

SB 981 2009
Requires that all schools have an automated external defibrillator, trained staff, and a response plan for sudden cardiac arrest or similar life threatening emergencies.

HB 5631 2004
This act concerns evaluating the state’s emergency medical services and identify where to place automated external defibrillators.

HB 5627 2003
This act develops guidelines for placing automated external defibrillators in public buildings, including state facilities, mass public gatherings and municipal facilities, and to develop public access to AED training programs.

Any person operating a cardiopulmonary resuscitator or a person trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation OR IN THE USE OF AN AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR in accordance with the standards set forth by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, who, voluntarily and gratuitously and other than in the ordinary course of his employment or practice, renders emergency medical or professional assistance to a person in need thereof, shall not be liable to such person assisted for civil damages for any personal injuries which result from acts or omissions by such person in rendering the emergency care, which may constitute ordinary negligence. The immunity provided in this subsection does not apply to acts or omissions constituting gross, wilful or wanton negligence.

A person or entity that provides or maintains an AED shall not be liable for the acts or omissions of the person or entity in providing or maintaining the AED, which may constitute ordinary negligence.
