AED Program Education, the title of this page says it all. Visit all the links to get a comprehensive education on automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and AED programs as well as view data from an AED Cardiac Arrest Save. Brush up on the proper terminology for dealing with sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and all the medical terms that go along with it. This A to Z guide will educate and inform you about such topics as the Chain of Survival, Good Samaritan Protection and Long QT Syndrome. Don’t worry, there won’t be a test at the end!
When you are finished educating yourself on AED and SCA related terms, take the time to view the data from an actual AED Cardiac Arrest Save. Sudden cardiac arrest can cause brain damage to its victims in as little as five minutes. Most victims will suffer brain damage or die if defibrillation is not started after five minutes. It is vital that the heart’s rhythm be restored; the only way to do this is with an automated external defibrillator.
Learn the difference between a heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest; they are not the same. Learn how to determine what a victim may be experiencing physically and what the signs to look for. As stated above, SCA, if not treated within a three to five minute window, can result in brain damage, any longer, and the victim will almost certainly die.
Deciding to implement an AED Program is the smart thing to do for any business or public gathering place, no matter how large or small. Learn how to develop and implement a successful AED program by learning the nine essential AED Program elements.
Once you’ve gotten the requisite steps for developing an AED Program in place, make sure to visit the Federal AED Law section to learn about the Federal Cardiac Arrest Survival Act that was signed into law by the President in the year 2000. You can download the document and learn about Federal Good Samaritan protection and recommended placements of AEDs.
Finish your AED education by reading up on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, informative AED articles, and then learn all about IP Ratings (ingress protection ratings – a standard that measures how well a device is protected against dust and water).
The AED Program Education section is filled with tons of information that is important to your AED education. We recommend that you study it well.
