automated external defibrillator (AEDs), specifically the AED 10 and AED
20 models, were designed for minimally trained or non-medically
trained, AED users. Both the Welch Allyn AED 10 and AED 20 models
feature easy to follow voice commands that calmly guide a first
responder through a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) emergency.
The Welch Allyn AED 10 and AED 20 have been discontinued but AED brands still carries the Welch Allyn AED accessories you need for your AED program. The AED 10 and AED 20 batteries are non-rechargeable, so having a spare AED battery on hand is a smart choice. All AED batteries have a shelf life; the AED 10 and AED 20 batteries have a shelf life of five years of storage plus five years on standby. However, turning a battery on and off, or leaving the battery/device on idle for long periods of time, will discharge the battery more quickly.
Batteries are not the only automated external defibrillator accessories that have expiration dates. Did you know that AED pads have a shelf life as well? Make sure that you have a supply of Welch Allyn Adult Pads on hand for your AED 10 and AED 20 models. AED brands carries Adult Pads with several options to choose from. To ensure that you never run out you can choose a pack of ten pads with the leads in the pouch, or a pack of ten pads with the leads outside the pouch. This allows the pads to be pre-connected, which may save vital seconds during the sudden cardiac arrest emergency. We also carry both options with one pad packs.
Because children eight years old and under and those weighing 55 pounds or less do not need as much energy delivered to their hearts during a sudden cardiac arrest resuscitation, Welch Allyn has manufactured a Pediatric Energy Reducer. Having this device on hand means that you will not have to have separate infant/child pads for your Welch Allyn AED 10 or AED 20 unit. When the Energy Reducer device is attached to the automated external defibrillator, a lower energy shock will be administered to the younger and lighter victim ensuring that they receive a much safer electrical shock.
