Headquartered in Connecticut, Defibtech makes all of its AEDs in the
United States and sells them worldwide.
As an authorized distributor for Defibtech, AED brands is proud to offer the exceptionally dependable, yet economical, Lifeline AED to satisfy your defibrillator needs. Cutting-edge design combined with unbeatable versatility results in the perfect solution for first response professionals like police, fire and EMS, while AED brands’ low prices allow you to own a high-quality product without going over budget.
The Defibtech Lifeline AED exceeds performance recommendations made by the American Heart Association thus ensuring that first responders are administering the proper treatment to an SCA victim. Heart attack symptoms and sudden cardiac arrest symptoms are mistakenly thought by most people to be the same. However, both conditions are different and need to be treated differently.
Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the heart stops pumping blood, usually because of an electrical problem in the heart. A heart attack occurs when there is a blockage in one or more of the arteries in the heart, and the blood can’t reach the heart to deliver oxygen. A heart attack can lead to an SCA. The most common form of sudden cardiac arrest is ventricular fibrillation, when the brain and muscles stop receiving blood from the heart. The Defibtech Lifeline AED, which uses biphasic defibrillation, has been shown to restore normal fibrillation on the first shock. Sudden cardiac arrest is life-threatening and if the victim does not receive treatment (defibrillation) within minutes of collapsing, the victim will die.
How do you know if someone is having an SCA or a heart attack? The signs of a heart attack are different than sudden cardiac arrest: they include chest discomfort, like pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain, discomfort in the upper body, including one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach, shortness of breath and breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.
Signs of SCA are more readily apparent to bystanders because a person experiencing sudden cardiac arrest normally loses consciousness first. Then, when checked, a pulse cannot be found. This “ventricular tachycardia” or rapid heartbeat causes the blood to circulate inefficiently causing the loss of consciousness. If left too long, the victim will stop breathing. Without immediate treatment, the victim will almost always die.
It’s been found that as many as 50 percent of SCA victims could be saved if they received defibrillation within 7 minutes or less. Some studies have shown that survival rates can climb as high as 90 percent if basic life support treatment (resuscitation using an automated external defibrillator) is performed within the first minute of the SCA. Each minute that passes without resuscitation decreases the chances that the victim will survive the sudden cardiac arrest.
That’s why Defibtech’s AED was designed for speed. But it was also made to be simple. It is easy for non-medical first responders to use, but designed to the rigorous standards that professional medical personnel demand. Defibtech has created the Lifeline AED in an eye-catching bright yellow and black colored model so that it can be found easily and quickly. It’s also lightweight, around four pounds, so it’s easy to carry. And, it’s durable; in fact, it meets the US military’s “drop and shock” specifications!
SCA is one of the leading causes of death among Americans. Both children and adults can suffer sudden cardiac arrest. It is unpredictable and can happen to anyone, anywhere. Many SCA victims have never had heart problems. That’s why every home, school, office, store, factory, health club, gym, fitness center, any public place, should carry an AED defibrillator; they are becoming as essential as a fire extinguisher and as important a life-saving device as a smoke detector. Ensure the safety and well-being of those around you. If sudden cardiac arrest occurs, make sure you have the right resuscitation equipment nearby.
Defibtech technology lets you purchase this now-standard equipment at a price you can afford without sacrificing the reliability that is so vital in emergency situations. Improve an SCA victim’s odds dramatically and keep customers, employees, students and visitors safe with a basic life support solution that is both easy to use and extremely affordable.
