Philips automated external defibrillators, or AEDs,
are made by one of the most respected, experienced and reliable
healthcare companies in the world. However, no matter how well Philips
makes their AEDs, the units will not work if their batteries do not
work. That is why Philips and AED Brands make sure that you have several
choices of automated external defibrillators to choose from and several
options in Philips AED batteries as well.
Philips AED batteries are made to last but as with all batteries, they will expire. The OnSite and FRx 9 volt DC, 4.2 Ah disposable long-life lithium AED batteries are designed to work, and should be installed in the AED, at least five years from the date of manufacture. These Philips AED batteries have a standby life of approximately four years when they are installed within that five-year timeframe. The Philips AED batteries capacities are a minimum of 200 shocks or four hours of operating time.
The Philips AED battery made for the FR2+ automated external defibrillator is a four year, lithium manganese dioxide battery, which can last up to five years when it is installed by the install-by-date. This Philips AED battery also comes with a five-year warranty. The FR2+ Philips AED battery is good for up to twelve hours of patient monitoring or 300 shocks.
The Philips Forerunner AED has been discontinued but AED Brands still carries Philips’ AED batteries for our customers who have the Forerunner BT1 and Forerunner Aviation AED units. Both of these Philips AED batteries have a minimum of one-year standby life, a minimum of five hours of operating life, and a minimum of ten hours training life. Both Philips AED batteries can also deliver up to 100 shocks.
Having one or two spare AED batteries on hand is a vital part of every AED program. Every minute counts during a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) emergency. Brain damage can occur in as little as 3 – 5 minutes and death is usually the outcome if an SCA is not treated, or if the heart is not defibrillated, within ten minutes. Do not let this type of tragedy happen to anyone in your place of business or educational or worship facility or any other type of public gathering place. Make sure that your Philips AED batteries are maintained to manufacturer’s specifications and that you always have at least one spare Philips AED battery on hand.
